With the Sun in My Eyes
The world seems smaller in early morning dew
when the gentle star in orange hues first
casts its light upon the waking realm.
Little to report on the side of my kin
sleeping they miss the joy of this renaissance
dreaming perhaps unreal futures.
I hear the doves upon the roofs
my squirrelly friends in love frolicking
under the puzzled gaze of the Canadian birds.
Mile after mile I share in the pleasure of
the intimate complicity that takes hold
with the infinite residents all around.
Soon the fiery skies turn to gold and to blue
feeling the warm air caressing my shoulders
I continue on.
